Producer, Director, Writer and Actor, Cosmo Midney made her debut as a child on stage and on screen. She studied theater arts and dance with Paul Petrov of the Ballet Russe de Monte-Carlo and at Maurice Béjart’s Mudra Afrique. Passionate for cinéma, she gained hands-on experience on the movie set, learning different aspects of the craft with a focus on directing, set design and camera work.
Cosmo began working in New York as an actor and a writer making headlines as the female lead in the Off-Broadway play “James Dean – A Dress Rehearsal”. Her directing career jumpstarted in 1991 when she produced a music video for Capitol Records, a label she was signed to as a recording artist.
Cosmo has extensive producer, director and writer credits on feature film shorts, award winning documentary and educational segments covering social and environmental issues; commercials; corporate industrials for clients including GE, BMW, Kodak, Nike and Ford; and, music videos. As the head of Midney Media Inc, an entertainment company with its own studios, Cosmo couples her entrepreneurial skills with production and digital technology expertise to produce a series of independent projects while at the same time providing production and post-production services.
Cosmo is an artist focused on the continued development of the art of cinéma. Her career also includes a varied body of work covering issues such as human rights, open society, conservation of natural resources, fair-trade and organic practices, and the development and application of sustainable technologies.
Cosmo has completed production on "W.Puppet" finished a new feature film script, is currently in production on the documentary "The Road To Hydrogen", and is completing post-production on "Flow Interrupt" - her feature film directorial debut which she wrote, produced, directed and starred in.
